NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP and wondered why was the saffron party obsessed with dogs. “What harm have the dogs done to the BJP?” Rahul quipped when asked about a viral video which has was used to target him.
BJP leader Amit Malviya shared a video showing Rahul Gandhi, who is in Jharkhand with his “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra“, trying to feed a biscuit to a dog. However, when the dog refused to eat the biscuit, Rahul handed it over to the pet owner. The BJP leader posted the video on X and said when the dog did not eat the biscuit, Rahul Gandhi gave it to his party worker. Amit Malviya went on to state that it is natural for a party to face extinction when its leader treats workers like dogs.

When asked about the video, Rahul said “The dog was nervous and shivering… When I gave it a biscuit, the dog got scared. Then, I gave the biscuit to the owner, saying it will eat from your hand. Then, the owner gave it and the dog ate the biscuit. Then, what is the issue?” A visibly irritated Rahul then went on to say, “What is the problem of these BJP people with dogs? What harm have the dogs done to them?
Another BJP leader Pallavi CT, while sharing Rahul’s video, mentioned about an old incident to allege that Rahul had once disrespected Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a similar way by offering the northeastern leader biscuits from the same plate as his pet dog Pidi.
Responding to Pallavi CT, Sarma said that he refused to eat the biscuits and resigned from the party. “Pallavi ji, not only Rahul Gandhi but the entire family could not make me eat that biscuit. I am a proud Assamese and Indian. I refused to eat and resigned from the Congress.” Sarma said in a post on X.
