The Maharashtra Mahila Congress has launched the `Nari Nyay, Ha Tayar Hum` campaign, aiming to address key issues affecting women across the nation. The initiative comes as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, covering a distance of 6700 kilometers from Manipur to Mumbai.

Sandhya Sawalakhe, President Maharashtra Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, highlighted the focus areas of the yatra, including women`s reservation, inflation, and atrocities against women. She emphasized that the Congress promises to provide 50&#37 reservation to women once in power.

Speaking at a press conference held at Mumbai Press Club, Sawalakhe addressed concerns over inflation, stating that rising prices have disproportionately affected women. The campaign aims to alleviate these issues by advocating for equal pay for equal work, improving healthcare facilities, and establishing sanitation facilities within a 5-kilometer radius for women, she said. Additionally, free education and ensuring justice for women are key priorities.

Sawalakhe also criticized the BJP-led states for increase in violence against women and highlighted instances where women were not safe, even within their homes and schools. She pointed out the BJP`s proposal to abolish women`s reservation and demanded clarity on its implementation.

Regarding the ongoing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Atul Londhe, a state Congress spokesperson, expressed concerns over the targeting of opposition supporters and the extortion of money under the guise of ED investigations. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter to identify those responsible for extortion.

Londhe further criticized the Narendra Modi government and emphasized the need for accountability and highlighted the growing animosity towards opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Tuesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “misrepresenting” lines from a speech of Jawaharlal Nehru and said not only is this “shameful” but it also shows the “bitterness” in the minds of the BJP towards the freedom movement and historical struggles for nation building.

In his reply to the debate in Lok Sabha on the Motion of Thanks to the President`s address on Monday, Modi made repeated attacks on Nehru, claiming the Congress leader thought Indians were lazy and of low intelligence.
