‘You can’t imagine … ‘: Chirag Paswan writes to Tejashwi Yadav, seeks action over abusive language for his mother by RJD workers | India News
NEW DELHI: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Thursday sent a letter to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav highlighting how painful it was for him as a son to hear abuses about his mother. Chirag Paswan was referring to a purported video that showed Rashtriya Janata Dal workers hurling abuses at his mother Veena Paswan during an election rally in Jamui.
“I never considered any difference between Rabri Devi ji and my mother. In such a situation, I did not expect this from you. I agree that political parties may have different views, and there may be differences of opinions but it is not appropriate to have animosity. Such foul language about one’s mother is beyond imagination for me,” Chirag wrote in the letter to former deputy chief minister of Bihar.
Chirag, who is a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), also launched a political attack reminding Tejashwi of the poor law and order in the state under RJD rule in the past.
“This action by your party’s supporters has refreshed the memories of Jungle Raj of the 90s. In those times, it was difficult for mothers and daughters to leave their homes. Women were humiliated and tortured. Today after this incident, you cannot even imagine how painful it is for me as a son to hear such words about my mother. I want you to give a strong message to your party workers and supporters so that in the future such language cannot be used not only for me but for any mother and sister living in Bihar,” the LJP chief added.
Reacting to the video, Paswan had said on Thursday, “I am hurt that the leader in front of whom my family and I were abused is my younger brother. Allegations have been levelled against me several times that despite being a part of the NDA, I go soft on Lalu Yadav and his family. I will have a direct contest with them on the political stage but there are a few familial decorum that originated from the times of my father. My father and Lalu Yadav remained friends, so I have such relations with that family. I have always upheld the dignity of those relations.”
Reacting to the incident, Tejashwi had said that he did not hear anything from the crowd as he was giving his speech from the stage. “I have no information on who was saying what. I was giving my speech, and didn’t hear anything. There was a huge crowd. These people have made their video and have posted on social media. Does someone tolerate these things?” Tejashwi Yadav had said.
‘Why was Chirag Paswan silent when … ‘
Condemning the incident, RJD leader Misa Bharti, who is Tejashwi’s sister, questioned Chirag Paswan for his silence when Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary made a derogatory remark against her father Lalu Prasad.
“It is condemnable, derogatory language should not be used against women belonging to any party but I want to ask Chirag Paswan why was he quiet when Samrat Choudhary made such a derogatory remark against my sister and father?” she said.
BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary had accused Lalu of “selling tickets” of Lok Sabha polls to aspirants and alleged that the former chief minister didn’t even spare his daughter.
“Lalu Prasad is a politician who is an expert in selling tickets. He did not even spare his daughter. First, he took a kidney from her and then gave her a Lok Sabha ticket,” Samrat Choudhary had said.
Lalu’s Singapore-based daughter Rohini Acharya had donated one of her kidneys to his ailing father in late 2022. She is contesting Lok Sabha elections on RJD ticket from Saran.
Responding to Chaudhary’s comment, Acharya had said people will decide what is right and what is wrong. “I am Lalu ji’s daughter. I will answer every lowly thought and lowly word of persons having low characters in the people’s court,” she had said in a post on X.
“It is my duty and love towards my father to give one of my kidneys to him. Rohini is ready to sacrifice her life for her family and her birthplace Bihar,” Acharya had then said.
Pashupati Kumar Paras seeks action
Chirag’s estranged uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras also expressed strong disapproval of the use of vulgar and disrespectful language against his sister-in-law. Pashupati Kumar Paras has demanded strong action against the perpetrators.
Condemning the abuses, Pashupati Paras wrote on X, “We strongly condemn the incident of using indecent and abusive language about our Bhabhi Ji in Tejashwi Yadav’s rally in Jamui. This type of language is not forgivable.”
