Smriti Irani: ‘Frustrated dynast’: BJP slams Rahul’s Manipur, Rafale jibes | India News
NEW DELHI: BJP on Saturday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of undermining India’s “strategic and geopolitical interests” by seeking foreign intervention in internal matters after he tweeted on Saturday morning, “Manipur burns. EU Parliament discusses India’s internal matter. PM hasn’t said a word on either!”
“Meanwhile, Rafale gets him a ticket to the Bastille Day Parade,” Rahul added, drawing sharp reactions from BJP with Cabinet minister Smriti Irani hitting back at the Congress scion and calling him “a frustrated dynast”.
PM Narendra Modi attended the Bastille Day Parade on Friday in France as the guest of honour.
Irani, who defeated the Congress leader in Amethi in the 2019 general elections, said, “A man who seeks international intervention in India’s internal matters, a frustrated dynast who sullies the ‘Make in India’ ambition mocks India when our PM receives a national honour. Rejected by people, he seethes as defence contracts no longer land at the doorstep of dynasty.”
During his two-day France visit, Modi was conferred with France’s highest civilian and military honour — Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour.
Taking a swipe at Rahul, BJP IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya also tweeted, “It can’t be a mere coincidence that EU Parliament proposed to debate the conflict in Manipur, which it has no business venturing into, soon after Rahul Gandhi visits the state. Let’s look at the sequence of events. Rahul Gandhi goes to London and seeks foreign intervention in India’s internal matters. Then he politicises the unfortunate conflict in Manipur, which is completely a legacy of Congress, visits Manipur and next we see a foreign power wanting to sit in judgment on an issue, that is internal to India.”
