MUMBAI: Three days after the Supreme Court order in the case related to delay in deciding disqualification of Shiv Sena MLAs, Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul Narwekar left for Delhi on Thursday, reports Chaitanya Marpakwar. The visit comes even as state legislature officials are expected to issue fresh notices to 54 Shiv Sena MLAs summoning them for a hearing early next week.
While Narwekar said he was going to Delhi for pre-scheduled engagements and events, MLA of CM Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena Sanjay Shirsat said he may have gone to Delhi to meet Shinde group lawyers who had argued the case in the SC.
Narwekar said the SC order wasn’t against the speaker. “We will follow due procedure. The right decision based on constitutional provisions will be taken. I don’t think there was any adverse SC order,” he said.
