Shinde-Fadnavis govt invited PM Modi to Mumbai to hide its failure: AAP
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s Mumbai visit, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and said that the Shinde-Fadnavis government invited the Prime Minister to Mumbai to hide its failure and throw dust in the eyes of the public.
Aam Aadmi Party`s Mumbai President Preeti Sharma Menon lashed out at the Shinde-Fadnavis government and said the duo will not get sympathy of the people of Maharashtra.
“They (Shinde-Fadnavis govt) have not done any work in Maharashtra since they took oath. Their government has failed. In such a situation, if elections are held in the state and in Mumbai, their defeat is certain,” she said, “since they are aware of a defeat in the elections, they have put all upcoming polls on hold.”
This year, she said, about 7,500 local body elections are due and the Shinde-Fadnavis government decided to invite Prime Minister to Mumbai, only to hide it’s failures.

Menon also slammed the Maharashtra government for the closure of Mumbai metro services on January 19 for PM Modi`s visit.
The Ghatkopar-Versova Metro Blue Line 1 will shut services for 1 hour and 45 minutes at the peak evening hour to facilitate the visit of the Prime Minister to Gundavli station of Red Line 7 along the Western Express Highway for the opening of two new corridors of Mumbai Metro.
“Tomorrow the Mumbai metro service will be closed for PM Modi`s visit to Mumbai. Also, the administration has ordered that all the roads leading to the inauguration site and all the roads in the Bandra-Santacruz area will be closed to the general public.”
She said the Prime Minister`s visit to Mumbai has caused inconvenience to ordinary Mumbaikars. “Why are ordinary Mumbaikars being held hostage for the Prime Minister`s visit? This is an injustice to the Mumbai public and we condemn it .”
The Aam Aadmi Party`s Mumbai President claimed that the Shinde-Fadnavis government has no contribution to the projects that PM Modi is going to inaugurate.
“All these projects were launched and planned during the previous government. By getting these projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister, the Shinde-Fadnavis government is misleading the Mumbaikars,” Menon said.
She claimed that the projects, including the road concretisation project, worth Rs 6,100 crore for around 400 kms of roads in the megapolis, is being inaugurated by the Prime Minister without any planning just to throw dust in the eyes of the public.
Menon said that there are allegations that funds worth Rs 6000 crore have been made available by the corporation for development works. “How can an administrator approve such a huge volume of funds when there is no public representation in the BMC,” she asked?
PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a string of projects worth more than Rs 38,000 crore during his visit on January 19. He will dedicate to the nation the Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7.
