Sharad Pawar`s events on Monday cancelled over health reasons, says NCP (SP)
Amid ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Pune unit of the NCP(SP) has said that party chief Sharad Pawar has cancelled his events on Monday over health reasons, reported news agency PTI.
In a statement released on Sunday, Prashant Jagtap, the city president of NCP (SP), said Sharad Pawar had some discomfort in the throat while addressing a Lok Sabha elections 2024 rally in Baramati in support of his daughter and sitting MP Supriya Sule earlier in the day, reported PTI.
All engagements of Pawar, including political rallies, scheduled for Monday have been cancelled over health reasons, he said, adding that the NCP (SP) president is resting at his home in Baramati.
Sharad Pawar (83) has been actively campaigning for his party candidates in Maharashtra in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024.
In the high-profile Baramati constituency, his daughter and three-term MP Supriya Sule is pitted against Sunetra Pawar, the wife of his nephew and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Baramati is among the 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state that will vote in the third phase on May 7.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country`s “vikas purush” during a rally in Baramati in Pune district, reported PTI.
Campaigning for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 ended at 6pm. Among the seats that will go to polls from the state is Baramati, where Pawar`s wife Sunetra Pawar is pitted as the ruling alliance candidate against sitting MP and Sharad Pawar`s daughter Supriya Sule.
“PM Modi is the vikas purush of this country. This Lok Sabha poll is extremely important. Baramati has not received funds from the Centre for the last 15 years (Sule has been MP for the past three terms). Development projects worth Rs 2,499 crore have been approved,” Ajit Pawar said, reported PTI.
He also mocked NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar over the latter wiping off tears after getting emotional during a speech in support of Sule.
“I told you someone will try to play on your emotions. But such acts don`t work,” the deputy CM said, reported PTI.
Ajit Pawar said he doesn`t pay attention to criticism and continues working with development as his only priority, reported PTI.
Looking at the sizable crowd, Pawar said, “I have attended multiple rallies but I never witnessed such a big crowd. It reaffirms we are winning here.”
