Religious Event at Gyanvapi Mosque Draws Bigger Crowd | India News
VARANASI: The traditional Jashn-e-Meraj-un-Nabi event, organized on the occasion of Shab-e-Miraj, drew a large crowd at the Gyanvapi mosque on Wednesday evening. The event has been organised annually for the past five decades now.
Devotees were allowed entry in the mosque amid tight security. Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee’s joint secretary SM Yaseen said the programme, also known as “Rajvi Sharif Ka Jalsa”, saw the gathering of about 700-800 people until last year, but the numbers rose this year. It was organised under the patronage of Maulana Sufi Mohammad Zakiullah Asad Qadri.
DCP security, Suryakant Tripathi, said that there was no overcrowding as participants entered the mosque and left after short stays.
