Ravi Shastri’s advice for Virat Kohli: Someone like Dhoni knows…it was with Sachin too
Former India coach Ravi Shastri on Tuesday advised prolific RCB and Team India’s batsman Virat Kohli to be “careful” and mindful of the camera after the match, especially after what happened RCB’s match against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow last week. Kohli, one of RCB’s batting mainstays, and Gambhir, the LSG mentor, were seen having a heated argument after the Bengaluru-based team won the match by 18 runs.
At the conclusion of the match, LSG opener Kyle Mayers walked up to Kohli and started speaking something when Gambhir came and took the West Indian away. Moments after this incident, cameras picked up Gautam Gambhir speaking animatedly with Virat Kohli. Other players, including KL Rahul, and support staff were seen separating the two. Virat Kohli had celebrated the fall of the LSG wickets during their innings with his trademark aggression. He was also seen blowing kisses to the crowd. Not only did Kohli blow kisses at the Lucknow crowd when their team lost a wicket, but he also emulated Gambhir by pressing his finger to his lips, emulating the latter’s gesture for the crowd to keep quiet.
Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Ravi Shastri explained that legends like Dhoni and Sachin faced the same as well given their contribution to the game, but they were extremely professional in handling that.
Ravi Shastri further said “After the sequence of events last week, someone like a Kohli, someone like a Dhoni…Dhoni knows, he’s a pro, that there is a camera on you and that is because you guys deserve it after what you guys contributed to the game. There will a camera on you, like there was on Sachin Tendulkar. Remember once the game is over, the camera is on you all the time until you get into that dressing room. You need to be careful, it’s like you are flagged off. If you have that in your mindset…camera, and once the game is over, you will be fine. You can get a lot of brownie points using that camera.”
Meanwhile, in the match between RCB and Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru, Saurav Ganguly, the former BCCI chief, and the star India batter had not shaken hands, raising many eyebrows. There were rumours that the two legends had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
However, putting to rest all speculations around their personal equations, both players shook hands and were seen having a conversation at the end of a thrilling clash at Delhi the two former India skippers, who are not known to be the best of friends, were seen shaking hands.
