Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth more than Rs 38,000 crore in different sectors in Mumbai, giving a big push to infrastructure, urban travel and healthcare ahead of civic polls, where the BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena will seek to showcase these ventures to take on the political rivals.

Besides the Prime Minister, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke on the occassion at MMRD ground in BKC.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi:

• Positive sentiments for India everywhere as people feel that the country is putting its might to good use.
• New India has big dreams and courage to realise them, a far cry from earlier scenario of discussing poverty and seeking help from foreigners.
• There is an extraordinary confidence in India and the country is progressing well with its futuristic vision and modern approach.
• Mumbai`s development slowed down a bit for a while but after CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis came to power, the momentum has increased.
• There was a time when funds for welfare of the poor were misused. There was a time when we spoke only about poverty and sought funds from other countries, he said

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde:

• Development took a backseat during the tenure of the MVA administration (November 2019-June 2022).
• We were able to free the people of Mumbai from suffocation under the MVA rule because of Modiji`s leadership.
• There is something special about Modi`s personality. I get a holy (pavitra) feeling.

Dy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis:

• The state has started walking rapidly on the path to development since the day double-engine government is back in office.
• In 2019, you (PM) said that the double-engine government had changed Maharashtra and asked the government be brought back to power.
• Trusting you (PM) people have brought back the government. But some people indulged in foul play and for 2.5 years, there was a government that the people did not like.
