Overhead wire snaps between Dahisar and Borivali, local train services affected
Local train services were disrupted on Wednesday after an overhead wire snapped near Borivali station in Mumbai.
According to Western Railway (WR), three trains were held up and others diverted after an overhead wire snapped between Dahisar and Borivali on the Western Railway route at 10:02 am.
“Three trains were held up due to it and other trains were diverted,” said Sumit Thakur, CPRO of Western Railway.

According to WR, the restoration work was carried out on a war footing and services have now been restored.
“The snapped overhead wire was restored at 11.35 am and the train services will normalise slowly,” Thakur said.

Taking to Twitter, several commuters said due to the incident, services on the Western Railway line were running late and the crowd on trains swelled.
Many office-goers complained of facing a tough time in the wake of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Western Railway has collected a record amount in fine during intense ticket checking drives from April 2022 to March 2023, including approximately Rs 43.7 crore from Mumbai suburban section.
A statement of the Western Railway said that in order to ensure hassle-free services to all passengers, intensive ticket checking drives were carried out continuously over Mumbai suburban local services, Mail/Express as well as passenger trains and holiday special trains so as to curb the menace of ticketless, irregular passengers. The ticket checking team under the supervision of senior commercial officers of Western Railway organized several ticket checking drives during the period from April 2022 to March 2023, thereby recovering an amount to the tune of Rs. 170.35 crore, which also includes Rs. 43.07 crore from Mumbai Suburban section.
