The newly inaugurated two metro lines 2A and 7 are now officially operational for general public.

Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd confirmed it in a tweet. It said that as “metro line 7A & metro line 2A began their passenger operations today, the first civilian passenger was welcomed aboard by Shri S.V.R. Srinivas, IAS, MD & Chairman of Maharashtra Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd & Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA”.

Excited passengers took it to Twitter to denote that they have taken the first ride. “Thank you and good job #MumbaiMetro first ride,” writes Manish Bhardwaj, a Twitter user.

Here is the complete schedule of the two metro lines: 

First Train: 

Dahanukarwadi to Gundavali: 5.25 am 
Dahanukarwadi to Andheri (West): 5.50 am 
Andheri (West) to Gundavali: 5.55 am 
Gundavali to Andheri (West): 6.00 am 
Dahisar (East) to Andheri (West): 6.34 am 
Dahisar (East) to Gundavali: 05.43 am 

Last Train: 

Andheri (West) to Gundavali: 9.22 pm 
Gundavali to Andheri (West): 9:22 pm 
Dahisar (East) to Andheri (West): 9:56 pm 
Dahisar (East) to Gundavali: 10:00 pm

All you need to know about the new Mumbai Metro Rail lines 2A and 7:

Metro 2A:

This is between Dahisar East to DN Nagar. Rs 6,410 crore have been spent on this 18.6 km route which includes 17 metro stations.

Metro 7 

This is between Andheri East to Dahisar East. The Metro 7 route containing 13 stations is 16.5 km long and was built with an expenditure of Rs 6,208 crore. 

Stations at phase 2 between Metro route 2A and 7:

Metro 2A – Phase 1:

Dahisar (East), Anand Nagar, Kandarpada, Mandapeshwar, IC colony, Eksar, Borivali (West), Pahadi Eksar, Kandivali (West), Dahanukarwadi.

Metro 2A – Phase 2
Valnai, Malad (West), lower Malad, Pahadi Goregaon, Goregaon (West), Oshiwara, lower Oshiwara, Andheri (West).

Metro 7 – Phase 1

Dahisar (East), OvariPada, National Park, Devipada. MagaThane, Poisar, Aakurli, Kurar, Dindoshi, Arey station are included.

Metro 7 – Phase 2

Goregaon (East), Jogeshwari East), Mogra, Gundawli. 

Fare structure:

The Mumbai Metro Rail lines 2A and 7 have been built at a cost of around Rs 12,600 crore. These lines comprise a 35 km-long elevated corridor stretching from Andheri to Dahisar in suburban Mumbai.

The 18.6 km-long Metro line 2A connects suburban Dahisar (East) with the 16.5 km-long D N Nagar (yellow line), while the Metro line 7 joins Andheri (East) with Dahisar (East).

The Prime Minister also inaugurated 20 `Aapla Davakhana` health clinics named after Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. This novel initiative provides essential medical services like health checkups, medicines, investigations and diagnostics completely free, to people.

The prime minister also launched MUMBAI 1 mobile app and National Common Mobility Card (Mumbai 1). The app, which can be shown at the entry gates of metro stations, will facilitate ease of travel. It supports digital payment to buy tickets through UPI.

Further, the prime minister started the transfer of approved loans of over one lakh beneficiaries under PM SVANidhi Yojana. The scheme funded by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is targeted at street vendors and seeks to provide them credit for working capital for their business which suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic.
