A 50-year-old woman died in a fatal accident after the auto she was travelling in, driven by her brother, collided with a dumper. According to the information received, the speeding dumper had suddenly applies brakes which led to collision. The woman was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified dumper driver.

The incident occurred on October 11 when Firdos Sikander Ali Sheikh (35), a resident of Mulund (West), her 50-year-old mother Tahira, and her maternal uncle, Mohammed Hussain Sheikh (34) were put on a family outing to Govandi. Sheikh was driving his own auto carrying his family and Tahira, while Firdos was traveling in a separate auto.

“As Sheikh`s auto approached the Bhandup Dumping Ground, a dumper ahead suddenly slammed on its brakes,” said a police official and added, “Unable to control his auto, Sheikh collided with the dumper, resulting in a significant impact that caused severe injuries to Tahira.” The tragic incident occurred at around 4 pm.

Firdos rushed to be by her mother`s side after witnessing the accident meanwhile passersby rushed Tahira to Rajawadi Hospital. However, due to the severity of her injuries, the medical staff at Rajawadi Hospital recommended transferring her to Sion Hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts made, Tahira succumbed to her injuries.

Upon receiving a complaint from Firdos, the Vikhroli police have initiated legal action by booking the unidentified dumper driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including IPC section 279 for rash driving, 304A for causing death due to negligence, and the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
