The Western Railway on Monday, July 31, said that the suburban trains are running late due to what the railway department described as “signal failure” at Andheri.

Western Railway`s public relations officer said that the authorities are making a “detailed investigation of (the) failures”.

A Twitter user @rozesandbuds took to the social media platform seeking accountability as the trains are reportedly running late. “The 10:02 am vasai local is running late by 30 mins. It’s 10:23 AM now. This isn’t the first time in the past two months where a #mumbailocal has been late by more than 5 mins. What happened to the punctuality?” the user wrote.

Earlier on Thursday, the Central Line local train services were hit as heavy rains caused water-logging at Kalyan. The trains on the line from CSMT to Kalyan were running on time. Trains beyond Kalyan towards Karjat, Khopoli, Kasara were running late, the Central Railway had informed. Trans-harbour line between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)to Thane-Vashi/ Panvel and Belapur-Kharkopar lines were running normally, the CR official said.

In another case, earlier on June 13, services on the Western Railway line were experiencing significant disruptions due to a signal failure near the Malad station. According to the Western Railway (WR) official, all local trains on the WR line were running late. In order to inform the commuters, the DRM, Mumbai Central had tweeted, “Due to a technical problem at Malad station, all up and down local trains are running late.
