The Mumbai local trains on the Central line were delayed by 15 minutes beyond Kalyan due to foggy weather on Wednesday morning.

Central Railway`s chief public relations officer Dr Shivraj Manaspure stated that foggy weather was reported between Vashind and Titwala on the Central line from 6.30 am to 9 am and between Karjat (in Raigad district) and Badlapur (Thane) from 5.30 am to 9 am.

“Hence, the main line suburban trains were running late by 15 minutes,” the CPRO said.

The local trains are considered the lifeline of Mumbai. It ferries around 35 lakh commuters on a daily basis in Mumbai`s Central Railway (CR) network.

The CR`s main line service operates on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Kasara (from south Mumbai to Thane) and CSMT-Khopoli (south Mumbai to Raigad) routes.

Meanwhile, as per the SAMEER app, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Navi Mumbai was reported to be in the `poor` category on Wednesday morning, which showcases the AQI mapped by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Navi Mumbai reported `poor` air quality with AQI of 223.

Mumbai`s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 194, in the `moderate` category, around 8 am and Thane`s AQI stood at 164, in the `moderate` category.

In Navi Mumbai, of the seven stations, the Kopripada-Vashi area reported `very poor` air quality with AQI at 305. Nerul showcased `poor` category as AQI ranged between 212 and 278. Further, the Mahape, and Taloja areas in Navi Mumbai logged `moderate` air quality.

An Air Quality Index (AQI) rating of zero to 50 is categorized as `good,` 51 to 100 as `satisfactory,` 101 to 200 as `moderate,` 201 to 300 as `poor,` 301 to 400 as `very poor,` and 401 to 500 as `severe.`
