With the “One Nation, One ID,” formally known as the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), India’s Ministry of Education (MoE) has made a huge step towards revolutionising the educational landscape. This forward-thinking initiative, centred around the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, provides a plethora of benefits that promise to redefine Indian students’ academic journeys and streamline administrative operations for educational institutions both at school and college, higher education institutes.
According to Moneycontrol, APAAR assigns a unique identification number to each student spanning pre-primary to higher education, providing a digital archive which tracks academic achievements, test scores, learning outcomes, and co-curricular achievement. The usage of Aadhaar IDs and other recognised documents confirms the legitimacy of student and faculty identities, allowing for a more efficient registration procedure. This unified central repository enables students to have a complete digital record of their academic path for their lives, thereby, making accessing and sharing credentials easier.
The APAAR register facilitates the storing of credits earned by students in the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) in Edu Locker for educational institutions, providing the safe maintenance of academic data. Transcripts, certificates, and other academic achievements may be easily stored and accessed by students, boosting their capacity to apply for employment, scholarships, or higher education opportunities.
In addition to standard academic records, APAAR goes above and beyond by recognising extracurricular accomplishments. This makes it a lot easier for students to demonstrate their all-around development and abilities, which are increasingly prized by educational institutions and companies for employment opportunities.
Transparency and efficiency are promoted by the APAAR system, which streamlines the admissions procedure for pupils transferring between schools or educational institutions. Educational institutions get significant insights into students’ performance, learning paths, and areas for growth, allowing for data-driven decision-making and more personalised teaching. Additionally, APAAR improves accountability and transparency in the educational field, making it simpler for institutions and authorities to keep track of student development and evaluate the success of educational initiatives.
