Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], August 17: The Maheshwari Sanguine Sangathan, an organisation of Maheshwari community women, is a proactive organisation diligently engaged in several social, religious and women empowerment activities for the last ten years.

As a part of its endeavour to economically empower women, the trade fair “Samruddhi 23” was organised this year. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel graced the event on August 13, which also happened to be World Organ Donation Day. In the chief minister’s presence, the attending guests took a collective pledge to donate their organs.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, “Organ donation is a noble and great act. I wholeheartedly welcome Maheshwari Sangini Sangathan and the Maheshwari community’s initiative to create awareness about organ donation. My government is dedicated to extending all possible assistance and support towards such societal endeavours.”

Dr. Vineet Mishra, Director of the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), said that a person could save the lives of eight people with organ donation.

Smt Jyoti Lahore, President of Maheshwari Sangini Sangathan, said that organ donation is a great humanitarian deed.

“When women become conscious about organ donation, they also spread awareness about the same in their family. Women can play a crucial role in spreading awareness about the importance of organ donation in society and the country at large. Maheshwari Sangini Sangthan has taken a significant step in this direction with this initiative,” she said.

Earlier, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the women’s trade fair. Around 80-100 women entrepreneurs had set up their stalls at Samruddhi 23, showcasing a range of products, including khadi, craft, decor, garments, foods, and rakhi, among others.

Moreover, Samruddhi 23 also featured a special display on Khadi, commemorating the 75 years of independence and the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. In addition, the event also encompassed programmes related to civic rights and duties, health awareness, and free health check-ups.

The event took place on August 12 and 13 and was organised at Maheshwari Seva Samiti in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad.
