Lok Sabha polls: No exit poll from 7 am of April 19 to 6.30 pm of June 1, says EC | India News
NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has issued a notification prohibiting the conduct, publication, or promotion of exit polls between 7.00 am on April 19 and 6.30 pm on June 1, when votes will be cast for the Lok Sabha and four state assembly polls.
This directive, issued on Thursday, clarifies that under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, showcasing any election-related content, including opinion poll results or poll survey, on electronic media is forbidden during the 48-hour period before polls close.
Alongside the Lok Sabha elections, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim will also hold assembly polls. Separately, bye-elections for 25 assembly constituencies across 12 states will take place during this timeframe.
