Irfan Ishak showcases his editing mastery in Taj: Divided by Blood
He is among the few technician in the industry who have successfully ventured from editing to directing.
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 27: Director and editor Irfan Ishak, started his carrier from film like Maqbool as asst. Editor to editing his 1st film as Editor Aashiqu Banaya Aapne and one of the renowned show on netflix The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives under the production of dharmatic has successfully showcased his skills and mastery editing in Taj: Divided by Blood, the period drama that is streaming on Zee5.
A part of the film industry for more than 20 years now, Irfan Ishak understands filmmaking to the core. In fact, he is among the few editors in the industry who have successfully ventured from editing to directing music videos, short films, web series, TV commercials, feature films, reality shows, and more.
“Be it films, web series or music videos, I am passionate about my work and give more than my 100% effort. I have been fortunate to have got the opportunity to work on a variety of projects over the years and try my hands at different things. I am constantly exploring new things. At present, I am working on some scripts that will usher in a new era of filmmaking in India. I want to make films on hitherto untouched subjects and present the Hindi film industry before the global audience in a new light,” said Irfan Ishak.
The editor is soaking in the admiration that Taj: Divided by Blood, which features Dharmendra, Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rahul Bose, Zarina Wahab, and Sandhya Mridul in key roles. The web series, released on Zee5 on March 3, is a historical drama that revolves around emperor Akbar and his search for a worthy successor to the Mughal throne. The series has been very well received and the editing especially has been receiving a lot of praise.
“It was a very phenomenal web series to edit because the story was from a different era. Every episode was a distinct story in itself with many actors and characters. Working with an international team was also a new experience. A lot of editing took place mentally on the sets itself. The actual editing was time consuming and involved a lot of effort, but I am happy with the reviews it has received. I am thankful to the director Ron Scalpello and producers Abhimanyu Singh, Roopali Singh of Taj: Divided by Blood for showing faith in me and allowing me the opportunity to experiment,” he said further.
Irfan Ishak’s short film “A Bride”, which was released on Hotstar, too is getting very good feedback from the audience. He has shot the song ‘Fariyad’ featuring singer Javed Ali and producer of the song The Stars India is more likely to release the song on ramzan eid this year.
Going by Irfan Ishak talent and how his career is shaping, he is only just getting started in the hindi film industry. Vision is an important part of being a good editor, but so is teamwork and grace when you become a director.
