IPL 2023 SRH vs LSG: Prerak Mankad, Nicholas Pooran lead Giants to win against Sunrisers by 7 wickets
Playing to book a seat in the Indian Premier League playoffs, Lucknow Super Giants on 13 May defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets, with four balls remaining.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and opted to bat against Lucknow Super Giants in Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Out of 49 matches that the Sunrisers have played at home, they have won 31 of those.
Opening first, SRH gave a target of 183 for LSG to chase, which the latter completed in 19.2 over by losing just 3 wickets.
SRH innings:
Batting first on the hometurf, SRH openers Anmolpreet Singh (36) and Abhishek Sharma (7) tru to build a partnership, but it failed as Yudhvir Singh took Abhishek Sharma’s wicket in the third over.
Following this, Rahul Tripathi (20) and skipper Aiden Markam (28) too could be struggling on the pitch and they were sent back in the 6th and 13th over by Yash Thakur and Krunal Pandya. Prior to that Anmolpreet Singh was dismissed by Amit Mishra in the 9th over.
With Heinrich Klaasen (47) entered the field, things changed all of a sudden and balls started kissing boundaries. Abdul Samad gave important contribution and scored an unbeaten 37 runs.
By the end of 20 overs, SRH managed to put 182 runs on board after losing 6 wickets.
For LSG, Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets, while Yudhvir Singh, Avesh Khan, Yash Thakur and Amit Mishra clinched single wicket each.
LSG Innings:
Chasing a target of 183 runs, LSG openers failed to impress. Kyle Mayers (2) gave his wicket to Glenn Phillips in the 4th over.
However, Quinton de Kock (29), and Prerak Mankad (64*) built a partnership required at that moment. When Kock was departed by Mayank Markande in the 9th over, Marcus Stoinis (40) built another partnership with Mankad. Following his departure in the 16th over, Nicholas Pooran (44*) made sure the team doesn’t any wicket and chased the target in 19.2 overs.
For SRH, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Markande and Abhishek Sharma picked one wickets each.
