The race toward the playoffs of the TATA IPL 2023 is inching close to its finish and every team is pushing some extra effort to make sure they end up in the top 4. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played with the same zeal last night and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets. The massive win against Hyderabad has provided boosted the Net Run Rate (NRR) of the team to +0.180 and now RCB is at number 4 with 14 points.

The importance of NRR cannot be discounted and every season it helps some teams to qualify for the playoffs and eventually even win the trophies. Mumbai Indians (MI) is close behind RCB with 14 points and an NRR of -0.128. The chances of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are immensely low and only Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals seem to be the other two teams fighting for their place in playoffs.

With an NRR of +0.140, RR has a decent chance to qualify for the playoffs and now the performance in the last matches of RCB, MI, and RR will be the decider for the position of the playoffs. In case all three wins and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lose, all three can qualify for the playoffs.

With 18 points defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) are the only team to qualify for now for the playoffs while CSK and LSG are almost there with 15 points. Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are the bottom two teams and are already disqualified from the race for the top 4.

On Friday, RR is set to go against PBKS during the 66th match of the TATA IPL 2023. While for PBKS the road to playoffs is almost over, RR is still in the game mathematically. RR needs to secure a big win against PBKS on Friday and then wait for any mistakes from the camps of RCB or MI.
