ICC World Cup 2023: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday announced the schedule of the men’s ODI cricket world cup. The 50-over men’s cricket world cup will kickstart on 5 October Thursday this year at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The first match will be played between the 2019 World Cup finalist teams–England Vs New Zealand.

India will play its first match on 8 October Friday against the five-time World Cup winners Australia in Chennai.

The much-anticipated India-Pakistan battle is scheduled for 15 October Sunday in Ahmedabad.

Their last encounter in the 2019 World Cup was a high-scoring affair with India achieving a huge victory in Manchester.

India and Pakistan have faced each other seven times previously – in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015 and 2019.

In the 2019 Cricket World Cup, India posted a massive 336/5 at Old Trafford. However, a a smart bowling performance then helped restrict Pakistan to just 212/6 in a rain-marred match that India won by 89 runs.

A total of 10 teams will participate at the showcase event, the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The final two spots will be determined at the end of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which concludes on 9 July.

The first semi-final will be held on 15 November in Mumbai and the second semi-final will be held the following day in Kolkata.

The 2023 Cricket world cup final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19 November with 20 November slated as the reserve day.

The Narendra Modi Stadium boasts of a seating capacity of 132,000.
