UP: Atiq Ahmed, brother Ashraf shot dead in Prayagraj

However, on March 28, the Supreme Court refused the plea and asked Atiq to approach the high court instead.
Similarly, while being taken back to Bareilly central prison on March 28 after being produced in Prayagraj court, Ashraf too had flagged threat to his life. “An officer tipped me off that 15 days later, I will again be taken out from the jail and then shot dead.” When journalists asked him who would do that, Ashraf said, “I cannot take the name of the officer in public.”
