The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will begin the practical exams for winter-bound schools from tomorrow, November 14. The practical examinations for the remaining schools are scheduled from January 1 for both classes 10 and 12. The annual theory board exams are slated to start on February 15, 2024.

The board has not issued the date sheet yet. As per media reports, CBSE board exams 2024 timetable could be released by this week. Classes 10 and 12 students can visit the official website at cbse.gov.in and check the date sheets. The board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 for the academic year 2023-24 will be conducted for a period of approximately 55 days, the board had said earlier.

CBSE has requested other organisations to fix exam dates while keeping in mind the CBSE board exam schedule to avoid a clash with other undergraduate competitive examinations. “All the organisations holding any examinations are requested to fix the dates of their examinations keeping in view the above-said schedule of Board examinations,” reads the official notification.

CBSE Board Exam 2024 question paper will comprise competency or case-based questions, cent response-type questions, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and constructed response questions (short answer or long answer type). The marking scheme has been provided for 83 subjects in class 10 and 121 subjects in class 12 by the board.

The official notice further revealed the maximum marks allotted to each subject which is 100 with marks distribution among theory, practical, project, and IA components. CBSE also released the sample papers for class 10 earlier.

In the class 10 board exams, the question distribution will comprise 50 percent competency or case-based questions, 20 per cent response-type questions, 20 per cent multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and 30 per cent constructed response questions, encompassing both short answer and long answer questions. For class 12, the question format will consist of 40 per cent competency/case-based questions, 20 per cent response-type questions, 20 per cent MCQs, and 40 percent constructed response questions.
