A Guide for Corporate Heads with non-MBA Background – PNN Digital
New Delhi (India), March 7: The general perception of the public regarding the persons heading manufacturing and other business sectors is that all of them will have a business degree from a reputed institution. But this is not the actual scenario in the corporate field. Many of the corporate heads have not necessarily gone through a management course. Such managers normally are those who have come to the head of the unit, rising from lower levels with their performance and hard work. They usually learn management by trial and error, committing mistakes and applying common sense. Managerial Skills for Non-MBAs, written by Vijay Behere, aims at providing such managers useful tips which may help them make the right decisions in various situations and find solutions to the problems faced.
Author Vijay Behere is a chemical engineer and has more than 45 years of experience in the field of fibre-cement products. He started his career in the research department and then moved to production. He retired in October 2020 from the position of President (Technical). He was also involved in setting up three green field plants. Presently he is the technical advisor in the same Pune-based company where he managed five plants of the company as operations head. He is credited with improving the operational efficiencies of a number of plants, turning around a couple of plants which were at a loss, and introducing new technologies for existing and new products.
He has shared his expertise in the corporate field through this book which aims at improving skills while managing people, time, data, and tough situations. The book will act as a guide to the department heads who are from a non-MBA background in improving the plant/business unit’s performance and reducing the cost of the operation.
