NEW DELHI: The first day of CUET-UG concluded glitch-free with an attendance of around 77%, up marginally from 75% last year. The exam got delayed in some centres, including at Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, due to issues related to the biometric identification process.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised students who have been allotted the May 28 exam date and are also scheduled to take the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) on the same date to go ahead with the latter. NTA has decided to reschedule their CUET-UG dates.
Confirming a glitch-free day, senior NTA officials said, “Some centres faced issues in the biometric link. However, they were sorted and all candidates successfully completed their exams and were given their allotted time. In Ballia, as the delay was a little longer, around 80 minutes, accompanying parents and candidates were served refreshments and also NTA arranged transportation especially for female candidates to transfer them to their homes.”
The debut edition of the Common University Entrance Test-Under Graduate (CUET-UG) in 2022 was marred by technical glitches resulting in postponement of exams in multiple centres. Moreover, candidates were also left hassled over last minutes changes of centres and cancellations.
Compared to last year when on the first day around 75% attendance was recorded, and overall attendance was 64%, this year the participation started on a slightly higher note.
The official also said, “NTA via JIPMAT and CUET email are intimating candidates to sit for JIPMAT on May 28. These candidates will be allotted a different date for CUET-UG.” Both exams are conducted by the NTA.
