BSF constable dead, 6 more hurt in Poonch accident | India News
JAMMU: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable died while six other personnel were injured when the BSF vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a 250ft-deep gorge in Mankote sector of J&K’s Poonch district on Sunday.
“On getting information, BSF and locals launched a rescue operation and rushed the seven injured personnel to a nearby healthcare facility where one of those injured, identified as Constable Ram Chandran of BSF’s 158Bn, succumbed,” said an official, adding that Chandran had suffered a serious head injury in the accident.
Those injured were identified as constables Feroz Ahmed, Sanjay Sarkar, Karamjeet Singh, Ajay Singh, Devender Singh, and driver/constable Emdadul Haque.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
