Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 5 runs in another low-score thriller on Tuesday. DC’s bowlers Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmad led the bowling attack and defended a score of 130 against the table toppers.

Batting first, DC was restricted to 130 runs, as Gujarat Titans’ Mohammad Shami bowled a beautiful spell and took four wickets. The batting line-up of DC collapsed against the fiery bowlers of GT who took five wickets during the first five overs.

Chasing a low score of 131, GT’s batting lineup started shaky and the wickets kept falling at regular intervals. On one end skipper Hardik Pandya was making some crucial runs, but wickets continued to fall on the other end.

Delhi Capitals innings:

Mohammad Shami dismissed dangerous batter Phil Salt on the first ball of the innings and soon skipper David Warner followed on the score of mere 2 runs. Shami continued to dominate during the third over of the game and soon Rilee Rossouw was caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha.

Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg soon joined their team in the dugout as Mohammad Shami struck twice during the fifth over.

Axar Patel and Aman Khan stabilised the innings a bit and played some rare boundaries, but soon Mohit Sharma dismissed Axar Patel at a score of 27 and DC lost another hope towards a respectable score.

Aman Khan continued his struggle for the runs and also completed his crucial half-century in 41 balls which included three fours and three sixes. But, soon GT’s star bowler Rashid Khan striked and Aman Khan’s remarkable innings came to an end. At the end of first innings, the score of Delhi Capitals was 130/8.

Gujarat Titans innings:

Chasing a relatively low score of 131, Gujarat Titans had a shaky start as Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed on 0 by Khaleel Ahmed and soon Anrich Nortje takes out ‘impact player’ Shubman Gill. The points table toppers were struggling against the bowling attack of Delhi Capitals.

Hardik Pandya kept the innings running on one end, but on the other wickets were falling starting with Vijay Shankar at a meager score for 6, then David Miller for 0, and after some struggles Abhinav Manohar who added 26 runs to the scoreboard.

Skipper Hardik Pandya completed his marvelous half-century and kept up the hopes of the Gujarat Titans.

In the last two overs, GT needed 33 runs and Hardik Pandya tried to find some big shots. Anrich Nortje kept the bowling tight with one yorker after another, not providing enough space for Pandya. Soon, Rahul Tewatia was on the crease and smashed back-to-back three sixes to Nortje.

In the last over, only 12 runs were needed and Ishant Sharma struck at the right time dismissing dangerous Tewatia. In the end, DC defeated the favorites GT by 5 runs.
