School Holidays: With schools being closed on October 21 (Saturday) and October 22 (Sunday) along with Oct 23 and 24, children can expect a long weekend

With the start of the Navratri festival, schools across India will remain closed for a few days this month. The festival of Navami will be celebrated across the country on October 23. There is a holiday in most schools on this day. Meanwhile, Dussehra will be celebrated on October 24 (Tuesday). On this special occasion, most schools, colleges, and offices in the country remain closed to celebrate the day. With schools being closed on October 21 (Saturday) and October 22 (Sunday) along with Oct 23 and 24, children can expect a long weekend.

Apart from this, several states have announced 10-12 day holidays on the occasion of Dussehra and Durga Puja. Schools, colleges, and all educational institutions in Telangana will remain closed for 13 days to observe the festivities for Dussehra. The Dussehra holidays in the state will commence on October 14 and go on until October 25.

Private and government schools and colleges will resume regular classes on October 26 in Telangana, marking the conclusion of this Dussehra break. Further, as per media reports, schools have been instructed to complete their summative assessments by October 11. Bathukamma and the Dussehra festival will be observed in Telangana on October 22 and 24, respectively. Junior colleges will be closed for seven days from October 19 to 25. Classes will resume on October 26.

Schools in Odisha will remain shut from October 20 to October 29 due to the Durga Puja celebrations, the state govt has announced. The School and Mass Education department has also issued a notice about the upcoming school holidays due to Dussehra to the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) and has asked them to take the required steps. Schools will reopen on October 30. All elementary and secondary schools in Odisha will be closed from October 20 to 29, which includes two Sundays.
