It’s raining medals for India in wrestling. Young Deepak Punia joined the senior man as the 23-year-old former World Championships silver medalist stormed into the final of the men’s 86kg category.

However, Mohit Grewal lost his men’s 125kg category semi-final and will fight for a bronze medal later in the day.

All 3 Indian male wrestlers, who were in action on Friday, are in medal contention after the women — Sakshi Malik (62kg) and Anshu Malik (57kg) reached the final and Divya Kakran (68kg) won her repechage bout to give herself a chance to win bronze medal.

He will face Lashlan McNeil of Canada in the gold medal bout.
