Indian cricket fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming ICC World Cup, hosted by India for the first time in its entirety. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team aims to break their decade-long drought of ICC trophies. The last time India claimed an ICC title was in 2013 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained the team to victory in the Champions Trophy, coincidentally following their World Cup triumph in 2011.

One of the most highly-anticipated matches of the tournament is the clash between India and Pakistan, scheduled for October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, former India captain Sourav Ganguly suggests that recent encounters between the arch-rivals have lacked quality competition.

Ganguly points out that India have dominated their encounters with Pakistan in recent years, leading to one-sided matches. He acknowledges that Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup in Dubai marked a significant turning point in their rivalry.

Reflecting on the previous encounter between the two teams at the T20 World Cup 2022, Ganguly highlights the thrilling nature of the match, which went down to the last ball, with India emerging victorious with a four-wicket win in Melbourne. However, Ganguly believes that India’s matches against Australia in the World Cup tend to showcase higher quality cricket.

While India did not perform well in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Ganguly suggests that the India vs. Australia rivalry consistently delivers superior cricketing battles.

The India vs Pakistan match in Ahmedabad has caused a staggering surge in hotel rates. With prices soaring up to 1 lakh per room, the cost of accommodation has seen an astronomical ten-fold increase compared to the rates observed in the month of July.

While luxury hotels in Ahmedabad usually charge an average of 5,000-8,000 per night, these prices have skyrocketed to 40,000 and even 1 lakh in certain establishments.
