With the launch of ChatGPT last year, artificial intelligence (AI) has taken the centre-stage in existing tools and platforms. Microsoft is among early adopters of the technology and has incorporated AI tools in Bing and Edge browsers to boost as well as simplify user experinece. One such feature is the AI-image generator in Microsoft Bing that helps users create AI images. Bing Image Creator is powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E image generator and simplifies the process of image generation with text prompts.

Here, we bring you a step-by-step guide on how to use Bing Image Creator for AI image generation. Before proceeding, readers must note that one needs to have a Microsoft account to proceed. If you don’t have one, it is advisable to create a Microsoft account.

Bing Image Creator is available in Microsoft Edge. Open Edge browser on your laptop and click on the Bing Image Creator icon in the sidebar to access the tool. Alternatively, you can also access the tool from Bing chat within Edge. Here are the steps to use Bing Image Creator

Step 1- Go to bing.com/images/create

Step 2- Here, click on ‘Join & Create’ button

Step 3- Here, you will be prompted to login to your Microsoft account. Log in and proceed

Step 4- Next step is to enter a prompt of your choice. You can also click on the ‘Surprise Me’ button to get a suggested prompt from a pre-made list

Step 5- Now, click on ‘Create’

It usually takes a few seconds to a few hours to generate images, depending on server and prompt. One can use ‘Boost’ to get results quickly. Another point to keep in mind is that for every prompt generated, one ‘Boost’ gets exhausted. Boosts are the currency used in Bing Image Creator to generate images quickly. Every week, a user gets 25 boosts. If you consume the free ‘Boost’, there is an option to purchase more using Microsoft Rewards points. Around 5,000 points can be redeemed for Boost worth $5 on the Microsoft Store online.
