DSP Nitya Goswami Reveals Secret Behind Her Success In UPPSC PCS Exam

Like many students, Uttar Pradesh’s Nitya Goswami had big aspirations for her future. Nitya, from an early age, was determined to pursue a career in the Civil Service. She hails from Gorakhpur, but currently resides in Lucknow. Her educational journey took her to various cities in Uttar Pradesh, thanks to her father’s government job.
Nitya Goswami completed her 10th and 12th examinations at an English Medium School in Bahraich. She pursued her undergraduate degree in B. Com and later earned her MA degree from Lucknow University. In 2019, she qualified for the UGC NET examination. Alongside her academic pursuits, Nitya diligently prepared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and also participated in various other competitive exams, including the PCS examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Nitya Goswami achieved success in her third attempt at the UPPSC PCS exam in 2021, securing the 7th rank and joined as Deputy Superintendent of Police. She made some changes to her preparation strategy for this attempt. In an interview, Nitya Goswami highlighted the distinction between the UPSC CSE and UPPSC PCS exams. She explained that UPSC questions and answers rely heavily on analytical skills, while UPPSC PCS questions are centred on factual knowledge.
Nitya Goswami adopted a focused study approach with minimal study materials, typically relying on just one or two books for each subject, supplemented by her own self-made notes. She consciously reduced her use of social media while preparing. To relax and unwind, she watched web series on Netflix. Throughout her journey, Nitya received invaluable motivation and support from her elder brother and parents. It’s important to note that she continues her preparations for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
The UPPSC Provincial Civil Service Exam (UPPSC PCS) Mains 2023 exam was held from September 26 to 29. The exam was held in two sessions on all scheduled days. The forenoon session was scheduled from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by the afternoon session from 2 PM to 5 PM.
