On Thursday, Maharashtra reported eight new Covid-19 cases and zero death, as per the state govt data.

As per the data, 12 patients were discharged on July 28, taking the total tally of discharged patients to 80,21,487 until today.

The recovery rate in the state is 98.18 per cent and the case fatality rate in the state is 1.81 per cent.

Out of 8,74,10,059 laboratory samples 81,70,109 have tested positive (9.35 per cent) for Covid-19 until today.

“Around 5,281 tests were conducted today out of which 3,021 tests were conducted in government laboratories and 2,260 were done in private laboratories,” said the state official.

At present dominant variant of Covid is Omicron XBB.1.16. Total 1716 cases were found to be infected with this variant. There were 19 deaths reported among the cases of this variant.

Since January 1, 2023, 126 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. 72.22 per cent of these deaths have occurred in individuals above 60 years of age, 84 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, and 16 per cent did not have any comorbidity.

Presently, Maharashtra has 66 active cases.

Out of the total active cases in the state, Mumbai has 22 active cases.

Mumbai on Thursday reported two new cases and zero death.

Meanwhile, India on Thursday recorded 42 fresh Covid-19 infections while the number of active cases came down marginally to 1,452 from 1,469 the previous day.

With the fresh cases, the country`s Covid-19 tally has climbed to 4,49,95,434. The death toll remained unchanged at 5,31,915, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The national recovery rate stands at 98.81 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,61,067 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.
